About
Mission Statement
The Thanet Blog List (TBL) is intended to be a list of all bloggers who live in Thanet, and will also include links to blogs with a connection to Thanet. There will be no attempt to decide whether a blog has appropriate or inappropriate content other than whether it complies with the previous statement. This listing takes no responsibility for the content of the blogs listed.
What is a blog?
A blog is a website where entries are made in journal style and displayed in a reverse chronological order.
Initially the Thanet Blog List only accepted blogs created on Blogger.com, but now it is extending the network to other blogs such as Wordpress, Livejournal, or even a self-hosted blog. note: TBL WILL NOT include Myspace pages, but will link to the specific blog page on your page (i.e http://blog.myspace.com/tom).
History
On Tuesday 23rd May 2006 Kevin set up the Thanet Blog List (TBL) on Blogger.com in with the intention to “Do what it says on the tin”, make a list of all the Thanet Bloggers. It became apparent that the blogging scene was on the up in Thanet, and the list was even mentioned on BBC Radio Kent on 5th September 2006 (article here), although this was not quite was Kevin wanted as he was directly attributed to the TBL, and thus his anonymity was removed, something which he valued when running the Thanet Blog List.

[The old site hosted on Blogger]
In circumstances reminiscent of The Mask of Zorro, on Wednesday 13th September 2006 Kevin passed the TBL reigns over to Adem, another local blogger with too much time on his hands, and as the list developed they realised there was more potential to be had from the site, and so in December 2006 started work on this current site with the aim of increasing the functionality and making the Thanet Blog List a primary resource for Thanet bloggers.
The biggest change was the switch over from a Blogger based site to a Wordpress powered site, and the official switchover to the new site took place on 22nd January 2007, with the old Blogger site still active but redirecting.
On January 29th 2007 Adem and Kevin decided that there was no longer a reason to remain anonymous and so now the truth is out!
This isn’t the end of the developments though, as Kevin and Adem are still planning bigger and better things for the bloggers of Thanet.
